This Week I took an Emotional Intelligence Test and my score was 67, the results stated that I am reasonably skilled when it comes to the core ability of identifying, perceiving and expressing emotions in myself and others. It also stated that there is always room for improvement and there are areas that I need work. I agree I do think that I can identify and express my emotions and am fairly reasonable at dealing with others emotions and as for room to improve I definitely know that there are areas that I need to improve. I feel that even though I can identify when I am feeling the emotions, there's work needed to manage my emotions and sometimes keep them in check.
I also took the Stress Level Test, I scored a moderate stress level. I think that this is true sometimes, I know that there are certain times in my life when my stress level is a lot higher than normal. I feel like lately I have started doing things that help relieve the stress especially when the levels of stress are higher, I have started exercising more which I have noticed really helps when I'm stressed out. Also I have started trying to eat better and get more rest, I also try to take time out and stop myself from letting things that I have no control over get the best of me. Hopefully the combination of things can help reduce my stress levels or help me cope better with stress.
Journal #30
1. Write about a recent time when you felt overwhelmed, angry, sad, or anxious.
A few weeks ago I had a job interview, the interview is for the same job I do now only for another county. The interview should have been easy and I should not have had any problems, instead I was so nervous and anxious that I could not concentrate. I have been doing this job for years and I know everything that they were asking me only nothing was coming out right, when I get nervous I talk with my hands and they were flying all over the place. I finally had to realize that I needed to calm down, I took a few deep breath's and told myself that I knew what I was doing and that there's no way that they were not going to hire me especially because of all of my years of experience. I relaxed and just kept telling myself that it was ok and I could easily answer all of their questions. I finally calmed down and completed the interview.
2. Identify two or more strategies that you could use in the future when you experience this emotion.
In the future when I experience anxiety like in my interview the best way for me to work through it is to breathe deeply and try to relax as much as possible. Also try to think about things that do not cause as much anxiety.
Once I have calmed down I need to remember to gather my thoughts and tell myself that I can and will get through whatever is causing me anxiety and that I will be successful.

Entry 6
This week I listened to three podcasts under wired study tips, those three were 5 study mistakes students make, Changing a bad habit, and Fool proof ways to stop a procrastination cold.
I found them very interesting and helpful. The podcast 5 study mistakes students make helped me the most I learned that even though it may seem hard to get organized and stay on track that if you are consistent in the little things it can go a long way in keeping consistent in the long run. If you start with little things it becomes a daily part of your routine and then just a way of life and not such a chore. In the podcast it was recommended that instead of sitting down for hours a couple days a week and studying that even just reading for 15 minutes everyday helps you retain more information, this is something I am definitely going to try. I would recommend all the podcasts to anyone that needs help to gain better study tips and even to try to stop procrastinating. I think that all three helped me see things that I have been doing wrong and gave me helpful ideas on how to stop and change bad habits and procrastination.
This week I also took a quiz on right brain/left brain learning, I learned that I am left brain dominant. People that are left brain dominant tend to be rational, analytical, objective and look at things in parts not necessarily as a whole. I think that for the most part this is me I also realized that the way I learn and work is affected by which side of your brain is more dominant. I do like to work alone, I prefer a quite room without a lot of distractions and I like to read independently and not with others. This is exactly who I am, I also learned that I should learn to incorporate some right brain traits as well so that I do not get too set in my ways. Sometimes I can catch myself staying too much to myself and not letting others help.

Entry 5
This week I had to create powerful and meaningful questions, I'm not sure if they are powerful but they all have meaning to me and my life.
The three questions for my future are:
1. Will my husband and I have children? The assumption embedded in this question is if it is necessary for us to have children and if this will make give us a happier life. I know that we both want children but if that is not in God's plan then won't be still be happy?
2. Will we stay in California? The assumption is that we won't stay in California, I have wanted to move and my husband does not. I think that this will make me happy but maybe it won't maybe there needs to be changes in other parts of our life.
3. How can I be a better wife, and make our marriage stronger? The assumption is that our marriage isn't strong already, maybe it is and we need to find ways to bring out the best in our marriage rather than focus on the negative.
Three questions that I want to explore during my courses at APOU:
1. What career path will I take? The assumption is that I need to decide now.
2. How can my faith be incorporated into my studies? The assumption is that it isn't already. I made a choice to return to school and it wouldn't have been possible without prayer and faith and the fact that I made the choice to attend Azusa Pacific was part of God's plan and if my faith wasn't already incorporated into my life would it have worked out the same.
3. Are there other career paths that I may want to explore? The assumption is that I have no idea what path I want to take. I hope I know but there might be other aspects of the same career that I haven't even considered that I might enjoy. That's where the curiosity comes in and looking at new possibilities.
Three questions for important people in my life:
1. What keeps you motivated? The assumption is that there is any one thing that motivates people to go through life's ups and downs.
2. What made you chose the career that you did? The assumption is that they chose the career sometimes people don't get to chose and they are lead into a career that they get stuck in or decide that they do like.
3. What makes you an important person in my life? The assumption is that they even know that answer to the question. Every person is important to others in a different way.
The results of my curiosity challenge were.
1. 3
2. 1
3. 2
4. 3
5. 2
6. 1
7. 1
8. 2
9. 1
10. 1
Stretching score was 7 answers with a total of 11. I think this means that I need to embrace change and new experiences rather than stay in my comfort zone.
Embracing score was 3 answers with a total of 6. This to me means that I do not embrace new experiences and challenges.
I've realized that I need to step out of my routine and try new things, things that before I would not have even thought of doing or going places that I've never even thought of visiting. I should embrace uncertainty in some things and try look at things as a new adventure instead of being afraid of failure.

Entry #4
My vital friends map consists of seven friends.
Nicole is a builder, champion, companion, energizer, mind opener, and navigator she is always there when I need to talk or have a problem she is usually the first one I call when I have a problem or need help figuring something out. If there is a problem or I need to make a decision she is the one that I can turn to to help me figure out the right answer. When I need a pick me up she is always there to cheer me up. She is one of the first people I went to when I was deciding to get married.
Isabel is a builder, champion, and mind opener, she helped me tremendously in planning my wedding and she was one of the first and few friends I made when I started my current job. She gives me her opinion and she helps me see things through different perspectives.
Wendy is a champion, Collaborator, companion, energizer, she is just like me and thinks the way I do about almost everything and if there is something we don't agree on she's not afraid to tell me and vice versa. She can lift my spirits and help me through a difficult time.
Donna is a collaborator, companion, and a energizer she is always there when I need to talk and she can make me laugh even when i'm having a bad day. She has been my friend through a lot of ups and downs. She and her family have always welcomed me into their home and made me feel welcome.
Ryan is a collaborator, mind opener, and navigator he always tells me when he doesn't agree with something I'm doing or thinks that I should be doing something else. He always has an opinion and speaks his mind. He helps me to see things from others point of view.
Michelle is a companion, energizer, and navigator she has been my friend the longest and we have had a lot of ups and downs. We have been friends for over 20 years and she has always been there to listen, she does not judge me on anything.
All of my friends play a special role in my life and I hope that I do the same for them as they do for me.
My strengths are deliberative, responsibility, restorative, empathy and belief. I think that they strengths that I have the most difficulty with are command I would rather sit back and try to solve a problem rather than take command and help decide what happens I think that this conflicts with my strength of deliberative.
Another strength that I have difficulty with is positivity I do not always see the positive and I am not very upbeat and excited. I tend to stay to myself or my friends that are around me. I have a hard time talking to people that I am not familiar with. This is also true with Woo I have a very hard time breaking the ice and connecting with others. I can be very serious this conflicts greatly with Woo. I think that at some part of me has all strengths i do agree that these are my five top because this is how I see myself others could have a completely different view of me. I hope that even if my strengths conflict with other strengths that I can learn to embrace all strengths to some extent.

Entry 2
This week I took the locus of control assessment, I scored a 4. According to the results I have an internal locus of control. I somewhat agree, I know that I do tend to think that I think that I have control over what happens in my life. I think that I do this sometimes not always, I do understand that there are things that are beyond my control. According to the self-assessment I have a high internal locus of control, personally I'd like to think I'm in the middle.
Journal Entry #5
Write and complete each of the five sentence stems below.
1. If I take personal responsibility for my education then I will focus on my studies, make the time needed, and learn all that I can.
2. If I take personal responsibility for my career I cab determine how successful I will be.
3. If I take personal responsibility for my relationships I will focus on being a better wife, employee, friend, daughter, etc.. so that I know that I have tried my best to make that a good relationship.
4. If I take personal responsibility for my health I will take better care of myself. I will eat better and exercise regularly.
5. If I take personal responsibility for all that happens to me I cannot blame anyone or anything that does not go the way I want. I can take responsibility for things and determine how successful they will are. Also I will not be too hard on myself for things that are beyond my control, because those things can be turned into a learning experience.
What have you learned or relearned in this journal about personal responsibility, and how you will use this knowledge to improve your outcomes and experience in college...and beyond?
I have learned that there are different levels of personal responsibility and that we can control and also change the level that we have. The way that we deal with situations and conflict are all determined by our level of personal responsibility. The more personal responsibility that we have can control the outcomes of our conflicts and situations. If we are constantly blaming everyone and everything around us for things not going our way then our circumstances will never change, if we take some responsibility for our actions then the outcome can change. When things happen that are beyond our control we can use these as learning lessons and learn from them even though they did not turn out the way we wanted. I plan on taking personal responsibility for my college experience and make it the best that it can be. I cannot blame anyone else but myself if I don't complete an assignment on time or fail a test, but I can make sure that I make time to study and make sure that I fully understand my assignments.

Journal Entry 1
1. In your journal write the eight areas of the self-assessment and record your scores for each as follows:
1. 75- Accepting personal responsibility
2. 75- Discovering self motivation
3. 59- Mastering self-management
4. 49- Employing interdependence
5. 53- Gaining self awareness
6. 53-Adopting life long learning
7. 53- Developing emotional intelligence
8. 77- Believing in myself
2. Write about the areas of the self-assessment in which you had your highest scores:
When doing the self-assessment I scored highest in believing in myself, accepting personal responsibility and discovering self motivation. I think I scored high in accepting personal responsibility because that is one area that I do accept, I may not like when I am wrong but I do take the responsibility and change what I am doing and that way I don't do it again. If I take responsibility and correct the problem, then it can change my way of doing something in the future. The one are that I scored high in that surprised me was believing in myself, sometimes I do have a trouble doing just that. That are is hard for me and hard to do all the time, this is the part of me that I plan on working on.
3. Write about the ares on the self-assessment in which you had your lowest scores.
By doing the self-assessment I learned that I'm not good at employing interdependence. This was my lowest scoring area, this is a problem area for me. I am going to try to change this by trying to be more outgoing and asking others questions when I need help. Also I am going to try to not be so shy and reaching out when I need to. I tend to try to do everything on my own and not "bug" others lately I have realized that this can hurt me and I need to let others help when needed.
