Entry 2

This week I took the locus of control assessment, I scored a 4. According to the results I have an internal locus of control. I somewhat agree, I know that I do tend to think that I think that I have control over what happens in my life.  I think that I do this sometimes not always, I do understand that there are things that are beyond my control. According to the self-assessment I have a high internal locus of control, personally I'd like to think I'm in the middle.

Journal Entry #5

Write and complete each of the five sentence stems below.
1. If I take personal responsibility for my education then I will focus on my studies, make the time needed, and learn all that I can.

2. If I take personal responsibility for my career I cab determine how successful I will be.

3. If I take personal responsibility for my relationships I will focus on being a better wife, employee, friend, daughter, etc.. so that I know that I have tried my best to make that a good relationship.

4. If I take personal responsibility for my health I will take better care of myself. I will eat better and exercise regularly.

5. If I take personal responsibility for all that happens to me I cannot blame anyone or anything that does not go the way I want. I can take responsibility for things and determine how successful they will are. Also I will not be too hard on myself for things that are beyond my control, because those things can be turned into a learning experience.

What have you learned or relearned in this journal about personal responsibility, and how you will use this knowledge to improve your outcomes and experience in college...and beyond?

I have learned that there are different levels of personal responsibility and that we can control and also change the level that we have. The way that we deal with situations and conflict are all determined by our level of personal responsibility. The more personal responsibility that we have can control the outcomes of our conflicts and situations. If we are constantly blaming everyone and everything around us for things not going our way then our circumstances will never change, if we take some responsibility for our actions then the outcome can change. When things happen that are beyond our control we can use these as learning lessons and learn from them even though they did not turn out the way we wanted. I plan on taking personal responsibility for my college experience and make it the best that it can be. I cannot blame anyone else but myself if I don't  complete an assignment on time or fail a test, but I can make sure that I make time to study and make sure that I fully understand my assignments.
